THE BIG QUESTION

Why don’t we leverage the wide reach of Facebook across Asia and build a Facebook App by asking viewers to vote for their favourite candidates for the very first winner of Asia’s Got Talent?

THE DETAILS

The big idea is to create a simple, easy-to-use voting app that would appeal to all users across Asia and abroad who wanted to vote for their favourite candidate.

The voting started when the TOP 10 contestants have been selected. As with every contest that relies on popularity vote, users will have the chance to vote for their favourite candidates per week. Contestants will be eliminated based from their individual scores and some percentage will be collected from online voting via text voting, mobile app voting and Facebook voting.

THE CHALLENGE

Popularity votes are nothing new to most talent contests on TV, from singing contests, to talent shows, to reality TV. Facebook have added a new dimension to this popularity vote and opened new opportunities for brands to extend to a wider, global reach.

The Asia’s Got Talent Facebook Voting app is integrated into Facebook as an i-frame. One of the main challenges is creating an image area for the featured artist that range from one single act to a group act with more than 30 members in the group.

The Vote button must be highly visible and easy to select. Different states should also be highly visible from vote status, to “voted” status. Users can only vote once during the current “open voting week”.

The solution is to design a very simple and straightforward voting app in 2 steps:

At the end of the voting session, users are encouraged to share their votes and also encourage their friends to vote.

THE RESULT

Asia’s Got Talent’s Facebook page saw a surge on its likes. At the start of the contest, the AGT’s Facebook likes lies on the number of 300,000 and surged up to more than 1 million likes towards the end of the contest.
