Abacus ( http://www.abacus.com.sg ) is Asia Pacific’s leading provider of travel solutions and services. It boasts of a wide distribution of travel content from hundreds of travel suppliers including airlines, hotels, car rentals and insurance providers.
Our Company, Forecepts have been one of their technology partners and have been extensively working with them on their products, namely Abacus Webstart and AbacusTripPlan.
Abacus approached our team and asked us to propose new ideas and new technology for an improved travel platform for their Abacus Webstart Product. They want to brand it as a "Premium" product and sell to their premium clientele.
We have closely worked with their marketing team to devise and create Abacus Webstart Premium. I have created a fictional travel brand, called “Me & My Crazy Feet” to be used in their demosite.
It was 2 years ago when we have proposed the idea of creating a booking system using the latest technology in web design which is Responsive Web Design. This is quite risky, because 2 years ago, RWD was still in its infant stage and all of us in our team are all just starting to adapt to this new web trend. The good thing is that we were able to convince the client to take the risk with us and embrace this emerging technology. I have worked closely with the client, the project manager and the technical team from planning the information architecture of the website, wireframing, designing the actual screens for Responsive Web and Mobile, to testing and further reiterations to the design. This project had been a great learning experience for our team as well as our clients and all of us have greatly benefited from this endeavor.
The client is very happy with the end product and as of this time of writing, they were able to sell the design and the technology to UOB Travel.
